Days of heavy rain leads to flooding issues in central NC
Raleigh, N.C. — After being pounded by rain for nearly a week straight, flooding has become a major concern for central North Carolina Saturday.
The Wake County Sheriff’s Office tweeted Saturday that the intersection of Old Falls of Neuse Road and Riverside Drive was completely flooded.
The tweet also added that heavy debris was in the road.
Nearby at Falls of Neuse Road and Wakefield Crossing Drive, Wake Dispatch told WRAL News that Raleigh Fire Department and EMS were able to safetly get a driver out of a car that was stuck in water.
Further south, Raleigh police were directing traffic near Atlantic Avenue and Hodges Street due to flooding.
Viewer video submitted to WRAL News Saturday showed a portion of Interstate 440 westbound around mile marker 6 with a large amount of standing water.
A flash flood warning is in effect in Wake, Durham and Orange counties until 10:00 p.m.
A Flood advisory is in effect in many counties in central NC until 9 p.m.
